What I bring to UX teams
Practical UX, research and accessibility experience across complex public sector and secure digital services.
Complex Service Design
I help teams simplify messy services, map user journeys and create clearer experiences across government, defence, transport and healthcare.
Prototyping & Design Systems
I create low and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma and the GOV.UK Prototype Kit, using design systems to keep services consistent and usable.
Stakeholder Collaboration
I work closely with product owners, developers, researchers, content designers and senior stakeholders to make design decisions practical and deliverable.

ABOUT
About Sam
I’m Sam Spencer, a Senior UX Designer and User Researcher with over 8 years’ experience across government, defence, transport, healthcare and secure public sector services.

My work sits across interaction design, user research, accessibility and service improvement. I’ve worked with teams to understand complex user needs, simplify journeys, create prototypes, test ideas and make services clearer, more inclusive and easier to use.

I’m at my best in messy environments where there are real constraints: policy, legacy systems, technical limits, accessibility needs and stakeholder pressure. I help teams cut through the noise, make evidence-led decisions and design services that work for the people who actually need to use them.
